Matt Shade

Chief Executive Officer

Matt ShadeMr. Shade resides in the greater Indianapolis area where he has lived since 1987. He attended Carmel High School and received his Bachelor of Science Degree from Indiana Wesleyan University in 1995. Mr. Shade has 18 years experience in sport-specific, personal and group fitness training, having been the owner and operator of his fitness training business. Mr. Shade is the creator of the Company and FITNESS WITH A GOALĀ®.

Mr. Shade is a knowledgeable fitness expert with a diverse athletic background. In high school, he was a member of the varsity basketball team. At Indiana Wesleyan, he was a four year scholarship player and in 1995 a member of the NCCAA National Champion team. After college, Mr. Shade participated in a wide array of sports. Early on, he played in the Sacramento Kings Summer Pro League before playing two seasons as the tight end for the Indianapolis Tornadoes, a semi-professional football team. He currently focuses on triathlons and cycling. He is a two-time USA Triathlon National Champion in the Clydesdale Division, was 17th overall at the 2010 USA Triathlon National Championship and a three-time USA Triathlon Honorable Mention. He is USA Cycling member and currently races at a Cat 3 level.

Mr. Shade takes great pride in founding and directing Fit Livin' Thanksgiving Day Run (established 2009) and Fit Livin' Polo at Sunset (established 2014), raising over $30,000 to support Hemophilia of Indiana and Washington Township Special Olympics.

George Lathrop MS, MD, FACEP

Chief Medical Officer & Treasurer

George LathropDr. Lathrop resides in the greater Indianapolis area where he has worked as an Emergency physician since 2004. He is a board certified Emergency Medicine physician and has received the honorary designation of a Fellow of the American College of Emergency Physicians. He has been published in the journal Academic Emergency Medicine and has presented at the national meeting for The Society for Academic Emergency Medicine. He completed his residency training at William Beaumont Hospital in Detroit, Michigan after attending Indiana University School of Medicine. Prior to medical school, he received a Master of Science degree from Purdue in 199__ and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Notre Dame in 1996. As an Emergency physician, he serves on the front lines of healthcare and has detailed knowledge about the implications of individual health decisions and the importance of adopting wellness lifestyles.

Dr. Lathrop is a health and wellness expert who lives the lifestyle of fitness that he preaches. In high school, he was an IHSAA state qualifier in swimming and a member of 4 state championship teams (including three in swimming and one in football). At the University of Notre Dame, he was a four year member of the varsity swim team, a three year letterman, most improved swimmer in 1992 and Team Captain in his senior year, 1996.

Judy Porter RD

Director of Wellness & Vice President

Judy PorterJudy Porter grew up in New Philadelphia, Ohio and currently resides in the greater Indianapolis area. Judy received a Bachelor of Science degree in Dietetics from the University of Akron in Ohio and has worked as a Registered Dietitian for over 17 years. Judy has extensive experience in the field of nutrition with particular emphasis on disease prevention, weight management and sports nutrition.

Judy worked as an Administrative Dietitian and an Outpatient Dietitian for Indiana Health (Clarian Health at the time) for over 10 years. While her children were very young she consulted in a variety of settings and taught Sport Nutrition. Because of her knowledge and experience, Mrs. Porter has been sought out to provide private consultations for several elite athletes including NBA starts (Jermaine O'Neil and Gordon Hayward) and IRL champions (Marco Andretti and Indy 500 winner Tony Kanaan). Through her work experiences, she has designed and implemented nutrition and wellness initiatives for companies' employees, hospitals' and clinics' patients, and private individuals. In 2011 as an employee for Sodexo, Mrs. Porter was recognized as the Clinical Nutrition Manager of the Year and in 2012, she received the Patient Experience Enhancement Award, both in her district. Further, Judy is an active member of SCAN (Sport, Cardiovascular, and Wellness Nutrition) and Weight Management Dietetic Practice Groups.

In high school she was a state qualifier in Ohio in both cross country and track and had a top ten finish in the 1600 meters her senior year (1989). In college, she was the individual Conference Champion in cross country three years and runner up one year. She was the University of Akron Cross Country and Track team MVP 6 times combined during college and was the Akron Cross Country team captain her junior and senior year. She competed in the NCAA Cross Country National Championships in 1992 and was the NCAA Woman of the Year in 1992, a combined athletic and scholastic award. She was USA Club Track and Field National Runner Up in 1999 and National Champion in 2000 in the 3000 Meter Steeple chase. After taking a competitive break and time to start a family, Mrs. Porter returned to competition taking on a new sport, triathlon. She qualified for the Age Group Olympic in 2012 and 2013. Additionally, she was the winner of the Carmel Half Marathon in the Master's division and third overall in 2013.
